3 FUN Halloween Scavenger Hunts For Kids (FREE Printables)

Save it on Pinterest!

Kids are always excited about the holidays, but you can make learning fun with these Halloween scavenger hunts.

I wanted to target different age groups with these Halloween treasure hunts so I created 3 different ones.  There’s one to use at home with Halloween scavenger hunt riddles for a little older kids.  The second one is a Halloween scavenger hunt for the classroom with rhyming clues.  And the third is a picture scavenger hunt for younger kids like preschool and kindergarten.

I also have printable St. Patrick’s Day scavenger hunt clues, Easter scavenger hunt clues,  Christmas scavenger hunt clues, a beach scavenger hunt, Elf On The Shelf scavenger hunts, and a road trip scavenger hunt.

How To Prepare the Halloween Scavenger Hunts

For the Halloween scavenger hunts with riddles, print out the scavenger hunt clues and hide a clue in each specified place.

Give your child the first card and then they can follow the clues leading them around until they reach the final one.

You can just leave the clues around or leave a little prize at each location and a bigger prize at the ending point.

For the preschool/kindergarten scavenger hunt, if you have the objects around the house or classroom, have kids find them and mark each one off as they find it.

If you don’t have the objects around, I’ve included free printables so you can print out the objects, cut them out, and hide them for your kids to find.

Halloween Scavenger Hunt At Home

This Halloween treasure hunt is designed with clues that would be found indoors at home so you can create a fun and special Halloween activity for your kids.

Here’s a list of the at-home Halloween scavenger hunt clues

I’ve also included the answers in case the kids get stumped on any of the clues.

STARTING CLUE (give this to the child to begin)

🎃 If you’re ready for some Halloween fun,

Let’s hunt for clues ’til the game is done!
The first one’s hiding where you clean your face—
Go look in your washing place!

📍 HIDE NEXT CLUE IN: Bathroom Sink

🎃This place is cold, it’s where we store food,

Find your next clue if you’re in the mood.
It’s chilly and hums both night and day—
Open it up without delay!

📍 Refrigerator

🎃I have four legs but I do not run,

You sit at me when meals are done.
I’m found in the room where you dine,
Look under me for the next sign!

📍 Under Dining Table

🎃I shine and glow when the night is near,

I keep things bright so you can see clear.
I sit on a table or maybe the wall,
Find your next clue near the light bulb’s call!

📍 Lamp or Light Fixture

🎃You sneak a treat when no one sees,

A sweet delight, a Halloween tease.
Where candy hides and goodies stay—
Your next clue is tucked away!

📍 Candy drawer/jar

🎃I’m soft and fluffy and love a good nap,

You lay on me when you need a nap.
I’m in your room or on a bed—
Check for me where you lay your head!

📍 Under Pillow

🎃This box shows monsters, ghosts, and fright,
You watch it often late at night.
It sits on a stand with a screen so wide—
Find your next clue right beside!

📍 TV stand or near the TV

🎃Witches fly and sweep the skies,
But this one stays and never flies.
Look where we sweep the floor so neat—
You’ll find your clue where brooms retreat!

📍 Broom closet or near the broom

🎃I’m where you sit when there’s work to do,
With papers, pencils, maybe some glue.
You might draw or write or even think—
Your next clue’s hiding near pen and ink!

📍 On or in the desk

🎃You wear me when you leave the house,

I’m not a hat, shirt, or blouse.
I come in pairs, I’m near the floor,
Check where you keep me by the door!

📍 In or near a shoe or shoe rack

🎃I go up high, step after step,

You climb on me with careful pep.
I take you places, up or down—
A clue is hidden where you go up from the ground.

📍 On the stairs or stair railing

🎃FINAL CLUE

You’ve made it far, you’ve done your best,

Now it’s time to take a rest.
But first, a treat is waiting for you—
Where cookies bake and smells drift through!
