Materials you’ll need to make the DIY scratch off love coupons:

• Free printable love coupons (link at the end of the post)
• Pen
• Packing tape
• Acrylic paint (Glossy or metallic looks best)
• Dish soap
• Small mixing cup
• Small paint brush

How To Make Scratch Off Love Coupons

Print out the free printable love coupons and cut them out.

You can find the link for the free printable love coupons at the end of the post.

Write your messages on each heart.

Red ink looks really cute but any color will work great.

These messages will show when the paint is scratched off.

Cover the front of each love coupon with packing tape.

This laminates each scratch off love coupon and allows the paint to be scratched off easily.

Trim the excess tape on the edges.

Mix 1/2 cap of acrylic paint with 4 drops of dish soap in a small mixing cup.

This is the paint I used, but I also tried out a matte red acrylic paint to see if it would work and it did.

I didn’t love the result as much with the matte paint.  It showed more imperfections and seemed a little odd because the rest of the card was shiny.

I would recommend using a metallic or glossy paint if possible, but if you don’t want to buy anything extra, the regular acrylic paint works just fine.

The dish soap is what makes the paint scratch off easily.  If you use too much your paint will become very thin and hard to work with.

Use the small paint brush to paint over each heart with a generous coat of paint mixture.

Allow paint to dry before applying a second coat.

Apply a second coat of scratch off paint mixture over each heart.

Brush in the same direction to get a smooth uniform look to your paint.

Allow to dry fully.

Stack the love coupon scratch off cards and tie a bow around the stack.

This will hold the love coupons together and create a cute love coupon book.
