I hear this question a lot. People always wonder how much money can be made on Etsy and does anyone make money on Etsy? My answer to these questions is, yes! You have to be willing to put in the work though. It’s not as simple as throwing a few listings on there and hoping for the best. You have to research A LOT to find the right keywords or you won’t even be seen on Etsy.
You also have to be ready to research to see what products are popular so you can create products that people even want to buy. I can tell you that I think selling on Etsy is worth it. I never really thought my little products would sell when I listed my first seven items. I had no clue what I was doing or how to research keywords for my listings. Once I started seeing how successful Etsy shops are and that mine had the power to also be successful, I really dug in and began researching to make my listings better.
The reason I say yes to the question “Is selling on Etsy worth it?” is that in November (my 3rd month on Etsy) I made $1143. This allowed me to buy Christmas gifts for everyone on my list! No, I’m not making a living from my Etsy shop yet, but I know it’s possible. I’ve also made sales every month since I started my Etsy shop. This has allowed me to pay for groceries or a bill or just have extra spending money that I wouldn’t have had otherwise.
The really fun thing is I’ve found some bloggers are linking to my products without even being asked to and driving traffic to my Etsy shop! That was a really awesome surprise!
Here’s a little tip that I’ve been using for selling crafts on Etsy. I try to make things that I don’t have to have a ton of supplies for. All of my products are made from burlap. So I just have to keep the 2 colors of burlap on hand that I use plus the other little supplies. This keeps my costs down because I don’t have to have 20 different fabrics available at a time and try to anticipate what people will order. I hope that is a helpful tip for you when starting an Etsy shop. It has helped me be able to use my earned money on myself or things I need rather than having to invest it all back in for supplies. I do put a certain amount from each order aside for supplies, but this keeps that amount to a minimum.

UPDATE: Now that I’ve been selling on Etsy for over 3 years, I make a full-time income selling my crafts. My Etsy shop doubles in sales year over year.
I’m going to share with you my Etsy income report for February 2018 so you can see for yourself if selling on Etsy is worth it.
Now keep in mind that I’m still a newbie to Etsy and have only been selling on Etsy for a few months. Plus my Etsy shop was closed for 2 weeks in February because I was on vacation. So this is really 2 weeks worth of income.
