How To Reuse An Old Mirror
We moved into a fixer upper about a year and a half ago. The previous owners left this mirror with broken hooks and holes in it. It was ugly but I knew I could make it beautiful! It took me a while to get it done with all of the rehab we’ve done to the house that took priority over this mirror makeover. The best part is that it only cost me about $5 to do! Since I already had the mirror, I only had to buy paint and fabric. I already had a couple of the other supplies. Today I’ll show you how to reuse an old mirror and make it look new and modern.

All of the hardware was removed first. I didn’t fill in the holes because none of them were going to show after adding the fabric. If you need to fill holes in your mirror, you could use Wood Filler
or Spackle
I taped around the edge of the mirror where it meets the frame to be sure I didn’t get any paint on the mirror. I’m a messy painter. So this was a necessary step for me. LOL
I painted on two coats of Chalk Paint
allowing to dry completely in between coats. I chose chalk paint because I didn’t want to have to sand the frame. No sanding=happiness 😃
While the paint was drying, I cut strips of fabric to fit the width of the area of the frame I wanted to cover. I chose this dot pattern because it wasn’t hard to match up the pattern where the seams are plus it’s super cute. I got this one at Wal Mart for 99 cents. You could do this with any pattern or color though. I just like to keep things simple and easy!
I used Mod Podge
to attach the fabric to the frame.
After it was dry, I put a coat of Mod Podge over the whole frame to seal the fabric and to gloss up the chalk paint.
After the Mod Podge dried and I removed the tape, I used some flowers that I had from my maid of honor bouquet from my sister’s wedding and just hot glued them into the corners. My bouquet was a wreck by the end of the wedding. I figured this is a great way for me to be able to still have the flowers as a memory and actually use them since the bouquet was destroyed anyway.
