If you’re like me, the idea of doing a tile backsplash is overwhelming.  We found this amazingly easy diy backsplash idea for renters that is perfect because you can remove it!  You can literally finish this project in about 30 minutes or less.  We installed it to be temporary, but you can also use glue and make it permanent if you’re not in a rental house or apartment.  It will be really simple to remove if we ever want to change it.  Renting leaves you with few options to personalize your space.  This is a great way to be able to have a custom backsplash in your rental kitchen that is inexpensive and removable.

We first saw this diy backsplash idea for renters in a model home and loved it.  So I did a little digging to try to find out what it was.  The really awesome thing is that it comes in lots of different colors and designs.  There’s a backsplash that anyone will love with all of the different options they have.

You only need a few items for this frugal backsplash idea for renters!

Now for the fun part!

Place your mounting tape around the edges of the back of the backsplash panels.  I put a square on each corner and then one in between the corners on each side.   This is enough to hold the backsplash flat but not so much that it will be difficult to remove later.

Here’s how I put the tape on

Peel the backing off of the tape.  Position the backsplash tile on the wall the way you’d like and press around the edges to stick the tape.

The panels come with an edge to overlap one panel over another to create a constant flow of the design.  Make sure that is the edge that will attach to the next panel.

When you reach an outlet or window, measure the space and measure it on the backsplash panel.  Mark where you need to cut with your marker.  Use your scissors  or utility knife to cut the panels to go around your outlet or window.  At the end of your space, just cut the panel to fit.

You’ll need to use the longer outlet cover screws for your outlet covers.  The design on the backsplash panel is a bit raised.  So it will push the cover out too much for the really short screws.

Keep going until you’ve covered your entire space with the backsplash.
